Welcome to the Family!
What's up, everyone!
My name is Kadin Reese, and I am the creator and founder of Project Mind Muscle.
I grew up in the small town of Clifton, Idaho, where life revolved around hard work, family, and sports. I spent countless mornings milking cows on my grandpa's farm before school, feeding cattle at night, and finding jobs here, there, and everywhere in between. Looking back now, I didn't realize it then, but those early mornings and long days taught me discipline long before I knew what discipline really was.
Along with being a farmer, I've been an athlete for as long as I can remember. I played just about every sport growing up, but soccer was always the one that had my heart.
I started playing when I was four years old, and from the moment I stepped onto the field, I couldn't get enough. I wanted to play every chance I had. When I was seven, I started playing competitive soccer... with kids two years older than me. It may not sound like a huge difference now, but at that age it was. It pushed me, challenged me, and helped me develop in ways I didn't realize would benefit me years later. Until I was in eighth grade, I had never actually played with kids my own age.
Then high school came.
Before my freshman year, I transferred school districts with one goal in mind:
Play varsity soccer as a freshman.
Making that decision put a lot of pressure on me. I knew people were watching, my family knew why I transferred, and I put even more pressure on myself than anyone else ever could.
Tryouts finally arrived, and I made the team.
I wasn't a full-time varsity player right away. I was a bubble player, which meant I bounced between JV and varsity. At the time, it honestly sucked. But looking back, it was one of the best things that could have happened to me because it taught me how to earn what I wanted instead of expecting it.
By the end of the season, I had earned a starting spot on varsity. During one game against the defending state champions, I scored the fastest goal in Preston High School history.
Four seconds.
That was a pretty awesome moment.
I could honestly talk about soccer for hours, but I'll save those stories for another day.
Like everyone else, life hasn't always gone according to plan.
I've been through seven knee surgeries, thirteen broken bones, and plenty of other random injuries that have created some pretty crazy memories. As frustrating as those setbacks have been, they've also taught me lessons that have completely changed the way I look at life.
Three Things Life Has Taught Me
1. Discipline and self-investment will always matter.
Life will always throw things at us that are completely outside of our control. We can't choose every circumstance, but we can choose how we respond.
We can accept what happened, sit in it, and let it define us...
Or we can accept it, learn from it, and allow it to make us stronger.
Every setback has taught me that investing in yourself is never wasted. Whether that's taking care of your body, strengthening your mind, learning a new skill, or simply showing up when you don't feel like it, those small decisions add up over time.
2. Smiles make the world a better place.
Life can become heavy really fast.
When people know you're struggling, you'll find out who truly shows up for you. Some people will surprise you with incredible love and support. Others may quietly disappear.
Then there are the people you pass every single day who have absolutely no idea what's happening in your life... just like you have no idea what's happening in theirs.
A smile.
A wave.
A simple "How's it going?"
Those tiny moments can completely change someone's day, and sometimes even their life.
The world is a better place with you smiling.
3. Family is everything.
Family has always been the foundation of my life.
I'm the oldest of four boys, and I honestly couldn't ask for better brothers. They are some of my best friends.
My parents have been married for over twenty-five years, and watching them work through life's challenges together gave me an incredible example of what love, commitment, and sacrifice really look like.
Now I've been married for a little over a year to the most amazing woman I could have asked for, and I genuinely can't wait to spend the rest of my life with her.
There are countless other lessons I've learned, but that's exactly what this blog is for.
This is where I'll share my life, my experiences, the things I love, the things I hate, the random rabbit holes I fall into, and everything in between.
So... Why Project Mind Muscle?
Project Mind Muscle was built on those same values.
I love seeing people become proud of themselves.
I love helping people become healthier, happier, and more confident.
And I absolutely love making people smile.
I'm a certified personal trainer, and I've found that when I feel better physically, I also become stronger mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Helping other people experience that has become one of my greatest passions.
But here's the thing...
Project Mind Muscle isn't just about fitness.
Fitness is part of the story, but it's far from the whole story.
Yes, we have coaching.
Yes, we have nutrition.
Yes, we have workout programs.
But we also have this blog.
We have The Project Files podcast.
We have challenges.
We have stories.
We have competitions.
We have adventures.
We have plenty of chaos with my brothers.
And we've got a whole lot more coming.
At the end of the day, everything we create has one goal:
To make sure people know they are not fighting life's battles alone.
Life is hard.
It becomes even harder when you feel like nobody understands you.
But when you have people beside you...
When you have encouragement...
When you have support...
When you have Family...
Life becomes a whole lot more fun.
Why What's Good?
Why What's Good? It's a question that doesn't get asked nearly enough.
Every day we're surrounded by bad news, drama, and negativity. It's easy to forget that there is still so much good happening all around us. This world needs more reminders of that.
This blog is a place to slow down, appreciate the small moments, celebrate the wins, learn from the setbacks, and never forget to smile.
Because no matter how hard life gets, there's always something good worth finding.
So whether you're here because you found the podcast, want help with fitness, love sports, enjoy a good story, or you're just trying to become a little happier and a little healthier...
Welcome.
I'm really glad you're here.
I have no idea where this journey is going to take us.
I've never really been a blogger before, but I have a lot of stories to tell. Expect everything from movie reviews and sports takes to fitness, random life lessons, behind-the-scenes moments, and whatever rabbit hole I happen to fall down that week.
This is What's Good?
Welcome to the Family.
Let's build something incredible together.
